Terms of Use
Last updated:
The short version: you can start free, your code stays yours, and scores come from a published rubric that treats everyone the same, whether or not you paid. Do your own work, respect other people, and we'll keep our promises: no hidden fees, no placement guarantees, and a human review before any integrity penalty.
Who these terms are with
These terms are an agreement between you and ZeroTheoryAI Private Limited (CIN U62090AP2026PTC125862), registered at Gundlappadoddi, Kalyandurg, Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh 515761, India ("ZeroTheory", "we"). They cover zerotheoryai.com, zerotheory.live and our evaluation tools. By creating an account or using the platform you accept them, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy.
If you are under 18, please read these terms with a parent or guardian. Some features are adults-only, as the Privacy Policy explains.
Your account
- You sign in with GitHub, Google, or an email address and password. One person, one account.
- Give accurate details, especially your date of birth, which decides the protections for learners under 18.
- Keep your password and your GitHub or Google account secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Usernames must not impersonate anyone or mislead people. We may change a username that does.
Free and paid learning
You can start for free: Git & GitHub Essentials, the first week of every course, our free tools, leaderboards and your verified portfolio cost nothing. A full course is a one-time purchase that unlocks every lesson, quiz and weekly project in it, your schedule and the course certificate.
Paying never changes a score: the same published rubric scores every learner. We don't charge learners for getting verified or seen by recruiters. We keep improving the curriculum, so lessons and projects may change.
Your work stays yours
You own the code and projects you build. When you add our evaluation workflow to a repository, you allow us to:
- run automated checks on that repository through GitHub Actions;
- store the results: scores, feedback, the commit evaluated and similarity fingerprints (one-way hashes, never your source code);
- show those results to you, and to others only as you choose in Settings.
You can remove the workflow or delete your account at any time.
What scores mean
Projects are scored by a published rubric that runs the same way for everyone, with no AI grading. The full method is on How scoring works. Paying for a cohort buys teaching, never a better score.
A score is evidence about the work that was evaluated, at the time it was evaluated. It is not a certificate of employability. We don't guarantee placements, interviews or salaries, and nobody at ZeroTheory is allowed to promise them.
Honest work
You may use documentation, tutorials and tools, but the work you submit must be your own, and you should be able to explain every part of it. These are misconduct:
- submitting someone else's work, or sharing your solutions for others to submit;
- tampering with the evaluation workflow, faking test results or otherwise gaming a score;
- using more than one account to boost rankings.
Automated similarity checks never punish anyone on their own. A flag goes to a person on our team, who looks at the evidence, including your commit history. If misconduct is confirmed, you lose 500 XP and your ZScore is halved for 90 days. You can appeal once, within 14 days. If an appeal succeeds, everything is reversed exactly.
Using ZeroTheory fairly
Don't use the platform to:
- break the law, or post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual or harassing;
- impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you are;
- put malware in repositories or attack, probe or overload our systems;
- scrape profiles or leaderboards, or collect other people's data;
- send spam or unsolicited messages to other users.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. Where we can, we tell you why and give you a chance to respond. Content that a court or the Government lawfully orders removed is taken down within 3 hours.
Colleges and recruiters
Colleges and companies sign a separate agreement with us. Under it, they may use learner data only for teaching, placements and accreditation (colleges) or hiring (recruiters). They must never publish the bottom of a ranking or contact a learner who hasn't accepted their request. Every time they open or export a learner's record, it is logged and shown to that learner.
Paid courses and programmes
Self-paced courses are sold on zerotheoryai.com and cohorts on zerotheory.live. Prices include 18% GST: the price you see is the price you pay, and you get a GST invoice. Payments are processed by Razorpay. We never sell courses or programmes on loans.
You keep access to a course you bought for as long as we offer it, and for at least two years after you buy it. If we stop offering a course sooner, we refund the unused part. A purchase is for one learner and can't be shared or transferred. If the learner is under 18, a parent or guardian must make the payment.
Refunds follow our Refund Policy: for a course, a full refund if you ask within 7 days of paying.
Our content
Lessons, videos, quizzes, project briefs, rubrics and the ZeroTheory name and logo belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own learning. Don't copy, resell or republish paid material or quiz answers.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, or where the law requires it. Paid programmes are then handled under the Refund Policy.
Our responsibility to you
We work hard to keep ZeroTheory accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be error-free or uninterrupted. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, such as a missed opportunity. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or any other right the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Please raise any problem with our Grievance Officer first; most things can be fixed quickly. Subject to your right to approach a consumer commission, the courts at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, have jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update the date at the top and tell you about important changes by email or in the app before they apply. Questions: hello@zerotheoryai.com.
